Alluding to the infinite…

It’s interesting (to me) how Google’s AI Overview gets things right – and, equally, wrong – when offering its overview (its ‘answer’?) to a question or a search query.

/* Edited images will follow, Joe (a gallery of images and a feature fragment). I’ll be adding links, too, but it’s past 2:00 am. */

I hadn’t looked at the highlighted quote – perhaps it’s on the original ‘untitled folder’ project page? – but it’s interesting to see Fällt shows up, a quarter of a century later.

Interestingly, the quote doesn’t appear on the page, but it works in the context of the project’s underlying intentions. (In fact, refreshing the search, offers a second AI ‘opinion’, which – while broadly similar – provides additional ‘computer thoughts’.)

Related: ‘untitled folder’ – and ‘Imbecil’, which explores similar, parallel themes (in particular: the infinite, and ‘computer sculpture’) – remain two of my favourite Fällt projects to this day. [1]

  1. I’m glad we decided to maintain Fällt’s footprint online. Coincidentally, we received the every-two-year hosting bill – £264.32 – a week ago and we agreed we need to keep paying for it. One day it’ll disappear, but not on my watch! ↩︎
